Hidden Temple (Unreal 5)
Hidden Temple (Unreal 5)

This is a personal environment I built in Unreal Engine 5.8.1, from the early blockout through final lighting and set dressing. I wanted it to feel like an overgrown canyon that had been explored before, using the rope bridges, abandoned canoe, temple structure, crows, wet shoreline, and dense foliage to help tell that story.

All scanned and modeled assets in the scene were created by me. The canyon walls were captured with a Canon Rebel and Sony a7R IV, while the stumps, sticks, and several ground surfaces were captured with a Fuji GFX 100S. I processed the scans in RealityCapture and cleaned them in ZBrush while keeping as much original detail as possible.

I used Maya and Automatic UV’er for UVs, Marmoset Toolbag for baking, and Substance Painter for texture and material cleanup. The foliage comes from several Megascans packs and was mainly placed with Unreal’s Foliage Tool. I also used third-party wetness and puddle blueprints to create the damp foliage, rocks, and shoreline.

The crows use a simple two-joint rig with randomized head rotation, helping each one look in a different direction.
