While at Halon, Patrick Surace and I teamed up on a really cool project. Our big idea? Capture buildings, break them down into modular bits, and use those parts on other structures. We scanned five unique buildings and then used Reality Capture to process them. Then split them into usable pieces. After a bit of cleanup using Halon's photogrammetry process, they were good to go!
We also aimed to push Halon's limits. The final scene? It's about 80-85% photogrammetry scans, with the rest being hand-modeled assets. All in all, we created 160 different pieces for the project
Patrice and I did the block out to final feel of the environment as well as contribute extensively throughout the project such as optimization, modeling, clean up, direction in lighting, cameras placements and foliage placement.
I am going to post comparison images of the real buildings next to the 3D building so look out for that post!!
